Investment Objectives
The performance objective of the Catholic Values Australian Equities Unit Trust is to achieve returns that exceed the S&P/ASX 300 Accumulation Index as measured over rolling five year periods.
Investor Profile
The Trust is for investors seeking a socially responsible approach to investing in Australian shares based on the application of Catholic Values to investment decisions without sacrificing investment returns. Investment returns will fluctuate, with the possibility of a negative return in some periods. The Trust should be viewed as an investment with a long-term investment horizon i.e. for at least five years.
Investment Policy
The Trust places emphasis on managing the underlying assets in accordance with the Catholic Values Investment policy. The fund invests in a diversified portfolio of Australian shares and uses positive, negative and neutral screening processes to focus on those companies in sustainable businesses and to exclude those with activities that are contrary to the fund’s philosophy.
The assets of the Trust may be invested directly or via existing wholesale unlisted trusts. Therefore given the myriad of operational activities within large companies, the application of the policy is on a best fit basis and some restricted activities may be permitted if they are within the materiality threshold outlined in the Catholic Values Trust Investment Policy.
