CCIIM serves Catholic Entities

CCIIM is Church-owned. Our aim is to provide the utmost protection for the Catholic Church, its assets and its people. We are committed to delivering service and management excellence, without losing sight of our cooperative principles and the mutual values that remain central to our philosophy. Investment in the CCIIM Trusts is available only to those entities within and associated with the Catholic Church, including dioceses, religious institutes and charitable institutions.

There is no other investment company in Australia that so fully understands the unique needs of the Church.

The investment service has been specially designed for the medium to long term investment of Church funds. This ensures capital resources are available for the care of clergy and religious in advanced age and infirmity and supports the day to day engagement of the Church in its pastoral missions.

Ian Smith, Chief Investment OfficerIan Smith
Chief Investment Officer

Ian joined Catholic Church Insurances in 1996 from National Australia Bank’s Group Treasury Operations. Ian has in excess of 20 years experience in the finance industry, the majority of his involvement has been in the financial services and investment markets.

Ian has primary responsibility for the Catholic Church Insurances’ investment portfolio which as at 30 June 2011 was approximately $768M. Ian also manages the CCIIM Income Trust portfolio.

Shali Lingaretnam, Manager Investment ServicesShali Lingaretnam
Manager Investment Services

Shali joined CCIIM in March 2008. Shali assists Ian Smith with the management of the Catholic Church Insurances portfolio of investments as well as the CCIIM Income trust. Shali also has responsibility for the operational management of CCIIM.

Shali has over nine years experience in investment markets and prior to joining CCIIM worked at Macquarie Bank within the Equity Markets Group. Shali has also had various research and investment analyst roles at Lonsec Limited and IOOF Investment Management.

David SmithDavid Smith
Client Relationship Manager

David joined CCIIM in May 2011. David has more than ten years experience in financial services, with his most recent role as a Sales and Relationship Manager for NAB/MLC.

David’s responsibility is to manage, develop and broaden CCIIM’s client relationships.

 

Ligia Zevallos, Investment OfficerLigia Zevallos
Investment Officer

Ligia Joined CCIIM in March 2011. Ligia is responsible for providing administrative and investment support to CCIIM and client servicing.

Prior to joining CCIIM, Ligia worked within investor services at Centro Properties Group and prior to this worked in foreign exchange settlements for HiFX Ltd.

Investment Assistant

Bianca joined the CCI Investment Management team in September 2010, prior to this she worked in back office within the finance team at Catholic Church Insurances.

Bianca is responsible with providing administrative and investment related support to CCIIM and client servicing.

 

The Catholic Church owned Trustee/Manager

CCIIM, an unlisted public company limited by shares, is 100% owned by Catholic Church Insurances Limited, also an unlisted public company limited by shares. The shareholders of Catholic Church Insurances Limited include representatives of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, all archdioceses and dioceses and many religious institutes.

In the past 30 years, Catholic Church Insurances Limited has returned more than $193 million to further the mission of the Church.

The Structure of CCIIM’s Investment offerings

The Trusts are offered under two separate umbrella structures. The first of these is the CCIIM Trusts which are offered to tax exempt Catholic entities. The second umbrella structure is the CCIIM Flexible Trusts, which are designed for tax paying Catholic entities such as superannuation funds or other entities that wish to make investments which reflect Catholic values, beliefs and principles.

CCI Investment Management Trusts

Four pre structured investment alternatives and four direct sector options are offered through the CCIIM Trusts structure. The pre structured products consist of:

  • the CCIIM Balanced Trust,
  • the CCIIM Growth Trust,
  • the CCIIM Income Trust, and
  • the CCIIM Catholic Values Trust.

The trusts offer a mixture of defensive assets, including a range of fixed interest products and cash and growth assets including property and Australian and overseas equities. The CCIIM Growth Trust has a higher weighting towards equities than that of the CCIIM Balanced Trust and the CCIIM Catholic Values Trust. The individual sector options include:

  • Australian Equities,
  • International Equities,
  • Diversified Property, and
  • Diversified Fixed Interest.

CCI Investment Management Flexible Trusts

Under this structure CCIIM offers a Catholic Values Trust and three individual sector options of Australian Equities (Catholic Values), International Equities (Catholic Values) and Diversified Fixed Interest (Catholic Values).

Charitable Investment Scheme

CCIIM and the Trusts are recognised by ASIC as a charity within the meaning of that term in Regulatory Guide 87 issued by ASIC. ASIC Class Order 02/184 treats the trusts as charitable investment schemes. As Charitable Investment schemes the Trusts are exempt from the fund raising, managed investment and licensing provisions of the Corporations Act 2001. Furthermore, CCIIM is exempt from the requirement to hold an Australian Financial Services Licence.
